Weight is the deciding signal for whether a refused meal is normal or medical. Track weight, change since last weigh-in, and percent change with target ranges by life stage.
About this document
Weight is the single most useful signal in gecko keeping. A gecko that loses 10 percent of body weight in 4 weeks is sick until proven otherwise, even if it looks fine. A gecko that gains weight steadily is rarely in trouble. The Weight Log turns that observation into a working tool.
It captures every weigh-in with the change since the previous entry, the percent change, and notes. Over time the log builds a real growth picture for juveniles and a stability picture for adults. When the keeper or breeder spots a divergence from trend, the action thresholds in the log tell them what to do.
What the document does:
It records weigh-ins in a 20-row table with five columns (date, weight in grams, change since last, percent change, notes). The animal profile header captures species, hatch date, sex, source, baseline weight, and baseline date. The target weight ranges section gives species-specific ranges by life stage. The when-to-act section provides clear thresholds for vet-now (10 percent drop in 4 weeks), monitor (5 to 10 percent drop), and normal noise.
What is included:
Format and how it works:
Word version (.docx) for editing and a PDF version for printing. Most keepers tare a small plastic container on a kitchen scale and weigh the gecko inside the container. The log fits 20 weigh-ins, which covers roughly 5 months at every-other-week cadence or 5 weeks at weekly cadence.
Why this version is different:
Most gecko weight charts are blank tables with no math, no target ranges, and no action thresholds. This one calculates change column over column, provides species-specific target ranges by life stage, and names the precise weight loss percentage that flips MONITOR to VET NOW. That makes it a real diagnostic tool, not a record alone.
Who this is for:
For gecko keepers tracking their first animal through growth and for breeders who want every buyer to start a baseline weight on day 14 after acclimation. Pairs with the First 72 Hours Protocol (which schedules the day-14 baseline weigh-in), the Daily Husbandry Log, and the Husbandry Tracking Workbook for the full husbandry system.
Get the log on its own, or open the bundle for the full kit at volume pricing.

Updates
You bought version 1. When a state adds a registry requirement, a new federal rule lands, or a working breeder catches something that belongs in the document, the new file shows up in your inbox. No upsell, no annual subscription, no "unlock by upgrading." The document is yours, updates included, forever.
Common questions
The contracts were drafted with an attorney and pressure-tested across multiple working programs, but they are templates — not a substitute for a lawyer for your specific state's laws. Each file ships with a clear note about that. Most breeders use them as a starting point and have a local attorney review for state-specific edits.
DOCX + PDF. The DOCX opens in Word, Google Docs, Pages, or LibreOffice. The PDF is fill-on-screen or print-and-fill. Everything is editable.
When I ship a new version of this document, the new file lands in your inbox. Laws shift. A state adds a registry requirement. A working breeder tells me something that belongs in the document. The next version goes out to everyone who bought the previous one. No upsell, no annual subscription.
14-day no-questions-asked refund. If the documentdoesn't fit your operation, you get your money back and I'd genuinely like to hear why so the next version is better.
Yes, by a wide margin if you need more than two or three documents. The Keeper's Emergency Kit bundles this and every other keeper's emergency document for $18.50.
